MEDIA CARTRIDGES
Removable media cartridges provide many benefits in both operation and economics.

The ability to rapidly remove a fully recorded cartridge from an airborne recorder at completion of a mission and quickly replace it with an empty one reduces down time to an absolute minimum. Transportation of the digitally recorded, random access media directly to a computer based download station ensures rapid and effective access to vital data.

Cartridges can contain either Hard Drive or Solid State media. The Hard Drive versions offer high volume, economical storage of high speed data. They are sealed against altitude effects and can withstand moderate vibration environments.

The robust flash memory in the Solid State versions is managed by a sophisticated algorithm that monitors the memory health and ensures that read/write activity is evenly spread throughout the memory volume. This maximizes the memory life and provides high data fidelity under severe environmental conditions. Partitioning and Read-while-Write capability allow for mission data upload and in mission replay monitoring of recorded data or video. Approved erasure algorithms are deployed to declassify cartridges recorded with sensitive data. The cartridges can contain a clock oscillator that conveniently transfers a ground based time reference to the airborne recorder.

Cartridges have integrated USB or IEEE-1394 interfaces to ensure connectivity to any standard PC system. Plug-in docking stations are also available for simple, quick and reliable access to the cartridges.

GROUND REPLAY/ANALYSIS
